The Basant Kite Festival has been a historic and most lively
spring time event on the fifth day of lunar month of Magha (Punjabi Calendar)
marking the start of spring.
Basant has been banned for some time in Pakistan
including cities like Karachi, Lahore and the capital, Islamabad. Though this year the
government showed some leniency with the ban and gave the people of Pakistan a reason to be happy by allowing them to celebrate Basant.
Provincial minister Rana Mashood revealed that the
"Basant Committee" has advised and recommended holding of the Basant
festival in February 2018.
Seeing the opportunity Islamabad was one of the
firsts to come abroad the bandwagon and a recent event was held in I-10
Islamabad, which showcased Islamabadian's appreciation for the Punjabi festival.
People were eager to showcase their customized arsenal as well as turn the day to a lively and colorful event.
Events like this help
maintain an atmosphere of peace and harmony in the capital.
I wish this will happen in Lahore..
